Small-group SQA Chemistry tuition with Lynsey Robinson — over 20 years teaching National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher, and an SQA marker who knows exactly what examiners look for.
I've spent more than 20 years teaching Chemistry in the classroom, at every level from National 5 through to Advanced Higher. I also mark for the SQA, so I know precisely how marks are awarded — and where pupils quietly lose them.
Alongside teaching I've been a pastoral care teacher, supporting young people through exam stress, mental health and career choices. I'm a mum myself, so I understand the highs and lows of exams from both sides.
"I had a pupil who was told he shouldn't sit the N5 Chemistry exam a few weeks before. We worked hard together to prepare — and he passed."

As an SQA marker, I teach pupils to answer the way examiners want — often the fastest route to a better grade.
"Lynsey is excellent at explaining difficult chemistry concepts in a clear, straightforward way, while checking understanding in a friendly and inclusive manner. Her tutorials really helped my son gain confidence in answering exam questions effectively and understanding how to secure the marks examiners are looking for. We are so happy we found Lynsey."
"My son has autism and had really struggled at school, but Lynsey's tutorials were inclusive and supportive. She adapted her teaching style to help him understand difficult concepts, while also focusing on exam technique. I would recommend Lynsey to anyone looking for a friendly, fun and relaxed chemistry tutor who is also focused on helping students achieve the results they are aiming for."
"Lynsey is a fantastic tutor. She's funny and lighthearted and the Chemistry sessions felt like a relaxed chat. This helped me to open up and ask questions and be comfortable about sharing where and why I wasn't sure about my knowledge and application of Chemistry. It wasn't like being in class at school where I'd feel uncomfortable about doing that."
"We are very pleased with the chemistry lessons our son has received. Lynsey is an excellent chemistry tutor — knowledgeable, informative, positive, energetic and engaging. She creates an inclusive learning environment and constantly checks understanding throughout each lesson. Lynsey also provides feedback and updates on our son's progress. The communication is excellent."
"Fantastic experience! I can't recommend Lynsey enough. When we started my son had lost confidence. With her patience, knowledge and expertise she tailored sessions to suit his pace and interest. He's now actively engaged and grades improved significantly."
"Lynsey is great at explaining difficult concepts in a clear manner which has helped make the jump from National 5 to Higher Chemistry easier to understand. My daughter went from doubting her abilities to feeling much more confident, which I am so thankful for."
"Highly recommend Lynsey. She has been tutoring my child in chemistry Nat 5 and we have seen an improvement in both grades and confidence. Lynsey has a friendly approach and is incredibly patient. Looking forward to using her again for his Highers."
"My son received tutoring from Lynsey to help support preparation for his Advanced Higher Chemistry exam. He found it incredibly helpful to reinforce his understanding of more complex topics, and ensure practice of the correct techniques for exam questions. As a result my son felt much more confident going into the exam."
"Thank you so much for the massive help you have given me — I am so much more confident in my chemistry AND problem solving skills that I will be taking forward with me to uni. THANK YOU so much!"
"Lynsey is an excellent chemistry tutor who helped my son throughout his S5 year and while preparing for his SQA exams. She explains difficult concepts clearly, is always patient and encouraging, and tailors her lessons to his needs. Thanks to her support, my son's confidence and understanding of chemistry improved significantly."
"I found the group sessions really helpful. Going through the past papers together gave me a better idea of what to expect in the exam and helped me identify the areas I needed to focus on. Thanks again for all your help."
"She found the N5 chemistry support lessons very helpful and they played a big part in helping her prepare and take the N5 chemistry exam. The use of past paper questions constantly and repeatedly aided her a lot in understanding the types of questions asked. Very beneficial for her studies and we are very grateful!"
