I'm looking at running Chemistry tuition in weekday daytime hours, not just evenings and Sundays. It is aimed at anyone whose week already has space in it — S6 pupils with free periods, anyone on a flexible or blended timetable, and families educating at home. Classes are live on Zoom, so a free period is genuinely long enough: there is no journey at either end of it.
Most tuition assumes a pupil is free at seven in the evening. Plenty of them are not — and plenty of them are free at eleven in the morning instead.
A free period or two in the week is enough for a proper session. Chemistry gets your attention while you are still fresh, rather than at the end of a full school day.
Blended, part-time or college-linked weeks leave gaps that are hard to fill. A daytime slot fits into one of those gaps instead of competing with the evening.
If your learning already happens in the daytime, Chemistry should not be the one subject pushed to the evening. SQA National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher, taught to the same course specifications.
I have not set the format, the days or the times, and I would rather not guess at them. If a handful of people want the same level at the same hour, a small group is the better and cheaper way to teach it. If the interest is spread across levels and times, one-to-one makes more sense. Either way it should be built around the people who actually come forward.
